What a day - have been looking forward to 'Big Wednesday' for days with 15/20 mph promised by xcweather and the BBC !!! Up early with plans to go to The Dip rig 7.8 on the 133 and 8.5 on the 147. Trailer on the van by 9 - all I needed now was some wind. Loads of sailors seemed to have spent the day watching the Landguard weather station waiting for a miracle and again the wind gods failed to smile on Felixstowe - I don't know how the forecasters can get it so wrong again and again :( Still I enjoyed the summer sunshine in my back garden reading - even managed to give blood early. The wind dropped to next to nothing during the day!!! Then I couldn't stand it any longer and went and joined several at The Dip waiting - it looked promising for a short time and even managed to rig but by the time I had my wetsuit on the wind had disappeared - not even enough to get off the beach. Andy Mexome had a bit of a sail on his longboard while Mark Davis floundered on his big shortboard gear - not the way he wanted to spend his birthday. Mark Smalling kept us amused by rigging half his kit and then not getting wet !!! Not even the formula sailors rigged - what a sport this is !!! read Mark Smallings entry for today - it made me laugh and then when he was carrying his sail up the beach he put his head through his 9.5 - good old Tushinghams - they seem to go very brittle :( Lets hope we get a good day soon but no wind is forecast on the horizon - but then again what do the forecasters know as they are crap !!!
